Student suspended for tricking rival fans into insulting themselves


 

A high school student who tricked football fans from a crosstown rival into holding up signs that together spelled out, “We Suck,” was suspended for the prank, students said.
Kyle Garchar, a senior at Hilliard Davidson High School in suburban Columbus, said he spent about 20 hours over three days plotting the trick, which was captured on video and posted on the video-sharing Web site YouTube. He said he was inspired by a similar prank pulled by Yale students in 2004, when Harvard fans were duped into holding up cards with the same message.

Chinese man dies after 3-day Internet gaming binge

BEIJING — A man in southern China appears to have died of exhaustion after a three-day Internet gaming binge, state media said today.

The 30-year-old man fainted at a cybercafe in the city of Guangzhou on Saturday afternoon after he had been playing games online for three days, the Beijing News reported.

When you’re good at air guitar, you’re good


 

A Japanese man out-”played” challengers to win the Air Guitar World Championship for the second consecutive year at a contest in northern Finland.
Ochi Yosuke received the highest score from a panel of judges in the final late Friday at the Teatria rock club in Oulu, near the Arctic Circle.

High school football game called on account of stolen copper wiring

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A high school football game was called off because thieves stole copper wires feeding the stadium lights.

The lights at Anthem Boulder Creek’s stadium wouldn’t come on at game time Friday, leading to a 90-minute delay while officials tried to find out what was wrong. Minutes later, workers found the copper wires powering the lights were gone.

Travelers clamoring to see Craig airport bathroom

MINNEAPOLIS — When tourists ask for the bathroom at the Minneapolis airport lately, it’s usually not because they have to go.

It’s because they want to see the stall made famous by U.S. Sen. Larry Craig’s arrest in a sex sting.
